Overlooking Warner Bros. Movie World is easy because it doesn’t seem as grand as its international counterparts.
Obviously, Warner Bros. Movie World is not as large as Universal Studios, nor is it as immersive as Disneyland (that Guardians of the Galaxy ride!), but it’s fun, it has thrilling rides and it captures the DC universe very well.
Geeks Down Under recently headed up to the Gold Coast to experience the theme park and found that it’s every comic fan’s dream and probably one of the best DC experiences Down Under.
From on-set costumes to prop replicas and exclusive merchandise, here are seven reasons you may want to consider a trip north to check out Australia’s DC-focused theme park:
1. EXCLUSIVE MERCHANDISE
From a Pink Ladies-style Harley Quinn jacket to a whole store dedicated to Batman gear.
Warner Bros. Movie World is littered with merchandise from the DC world, much of which you won’t find anywhere else in Australia.
2. COSTUMES FROM THE DCEU
New to the park (and for a limited time only) are costumes straight out of Wonder Woman, Suicide Squad and Shazam.
You can actually see the Lasso of Truth in person, check out Shazam’s throne and be amazed by how shiny Jared Leto’s Joker costume is in real life.
3. MOVIE REPLICAS
Warner Bros. Movie World is one of the few places in the world where you can see the evolution of the Batmobile as you stroll from lane to lane.
There are several replicas of the famous car from various movies, including the ‘new look’ version from Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman and the type steered by Val Kilmer in Batman Forever.
4. THRILLING DC-THEMED RIDES
Fly at the speed of Superman as he rescues you from a dangerous explosion, join the Justice League on the wildest ride down under, or take a fast dive with Batman.
Warner Bros. Movie World has a surprising number of thrill rides available, many of which are entirely themed around, of course, the DC heroes.
5. IMMERSIVE-ISH AREAS
Okay, so it’s not as immersive as Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, but Warner Bros. Movie World does a great job at capturing iconic buildings and locations from DC movies and comics, including Arkham Asylum and Gotham City.
6. DC DINING
Order by Batman and refill next to Robin.
The theme park has creatively centered some of its restaurants around certain characters and movies, including one dedicated to Batman.
