Another vampire show bites the dust.
First True Blood, then Penny Dreadful, followed by The Vampire Diaries and now, The Originals!
The world of blood, fangs and broody sexiness is slowly fading away (for now) as another vampire series, The Originals, comes to an end.
The news was confirmed by showrunner, Julie Plec, who took to Twitter to say season five would be the show’s last.
In her statement, she called for fans of the series to join her at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend to say farewell to the show, which will start shooting its final season next week.
“Ending a show is always bittersweet, but for me, it’s a true blessing to be apart of making the choice,” she wrote.
“I want each actor to play their last scene as their character, and to put their character to bed with grace and care.”
Plec left fans with a little hope, saying that as an immortal family, “it’s never really the end of the story”.
Hopefully this means that none of our faves will die this time around (remember that The Vampire Diaries ending?)
If history is anything to go by, the blood-sucking genre tends to come and go in pop culture, so rest assured sexy vampires will make a comeback in one form or another sooner or later.
