How are The Avengers going to be ready to fight one the “most frightening villains” they’ve ever faced if they’re unprepared and well, at war with themselves?

The last time we saw Steve Rogers, Tony Stark and their (now split) team of heroes, they were almost literally at each others’ throats on Leipzig-Halle airport’s runway.

They’re divided, some are in hiding and as writer Christopher Markus puts it, “the Avengers are basically a name with nobody in it”.

Well, if there’s one thing all comic movie fans should know by now is that Marvel Studios and Disney have pretty much had a bigger plan for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) since the first Iron Man movie.

The extensive thought into connecting each movie in the MCU is obvious with each character crossover and Easter Egg. This was not only a genius method in getting viewers to watch each release, but helped build a bigger story-line outside the narrative of each film.

So why then did that fight between heroes come before their battle to keep the infinity stones?

According to Infinity War Producer Kevin Feige, having the team in an internal war will make the arrival of Thanos (which we’ve been waiting for since 2012) a little more surprising for viewers.

“We know they’re going to face Thanos. We’ve been setting that up since Avengers one,” he said in a video promoting the start of production for Infinity War.

“[But] how do you do that in a way that is unexpected? That, pits The Avengers against someone who is more powerful than anyone they’ve ever faced and yet make them completely unprepared to face them?

“Well, you tear them apart.”

And that’s why they Civil War was released before Infinity War.

In saying that, if the team is so divided and unprepared, does that mean they all won’t make it out of Infinity War alive?

We were expecting at least one character to die at the end of Captain America: Civil War, maybe that could still happen (I have my money on Captain America – sorry Chris Evans) but instead of dying at each others hands, one will die at Thanos’.

Guess we’ll find out next year.

Meanwhile, the Behind the Scenes of ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ promo also revealed that Tony Stark will be the one to sense Thanos’ arrival on earth. It also showed first Star Lord from Guardians of the Galaxy on set with Spider-Man and The Avengers for the first time.

Without over interpreting Feige’s words, do you think that maybe if The Avengers are “unprepared” to face Thanos, that maybe that means one of them will die?
