What does an actor do when he or she is working on a popular comic series and there’s an Easter Egg in the script but they don’t fully understand its significance?

They turn to an in-the-know on-screen (and likely off-screen) pal, for a little guidance.

That’s exactly how The Flash’s Danielle Panabaker realised the importance of the silver helmet that (somewhat) helped kick start the show’s second season.

In an interview, the actress who stars as bio-engineer Caitlin Snow, admitted to not knowing the full meaning behind the Easter Egg when she first saw it in the script, and turned to co-star Carlos Valdes aka Cisco for a little comic guidance.

“I am very lucky to have wonderful co-stars like Carlos Valdes, and I will never forget, while we were doing the table read for episode 123 last year and Andrew read the moment where the silver hat comes flying out, I leaned over to Carlos and I was like, what does that mean?” she explained.

“I knew it was important, but I didn’t know what.”

But when the name Hunter Zolomon popped appeared later in the series, Danielle said she decided to take another, more popular approach to her research, Google.

“Hunter Zolomon, you know, I did my research. Uncle Google helps you out.”

During the Q&A, Danielle also talked about her transition from sweet Caitlin to Earth 2’s evil counterpart, Killer Frost.

She said she “practically jumped up and down” when she was told of the villain’s arrival, mostly because she was ready to suit up like the ladies on the set of Arrow.

“You know, look at Arrow, and a lot of the girls over there have already suited up, so to speak, and I couldn’t wait to get out there and duke it out with them,” she explained.

“It was so different, and like — and that was kind of the fun of it, you know, to spend one day as Killer Frost and do everything the opposite of what Caitlin would do.

“I mean, that’s an oversimplification of who she is as a character, but, you know, to get to find all these other totally different ways to act and behave and her different motivations, it was the best. That’s why I love being on the show.”

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (season 1), The Flash (season 2) and Arrow (season 4) are OUT NOW on Blu-ray and DVD.
