There’s over two hours worth of never-before-seen special features from The Martian and we’ve managed to get our hands on around one minute and thirty seconds of it.
It doesn’t sound like much except that it includes a comment from a genius over at the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration aka NASA!
The clip was sent ahead of The Martian’s release to DVD, Blu-ray and digital (on 24 August BTW), and features snippets of interviews with cast, crew and the Director of NASA’s Planetary Science Division, James L. Green.
So what does a NASA scientist think about the Ridley Scott flick?
He sees The Martian and sci-fi genre in general as an opportunity to mould humanity’s future.
“Science fiction allows us to dream about the future. Not about what it is but what it could be,” he said.
“You know, if we can envision it, we can create it.”
Also appearing in the video is Producer, Aditya Sood, who said he thinks the movie has “an unbelievably optimistic message about what humans should be doing in the future”.
Just thinking online now, but like maybe one day the Chinese equivalent of NASA will be willing to help out an US astronaut in a ‘sh#tty’ (get it?) situation? Even if it means sacrificing their own development? That would be nice.
