Families don’t always get along, even the ‘super’ ones.
Apparently Kara (Melissa Benoist) aka Supergirl will butt heads with her cousin Clark Kent aka Superman when he rocks up to National City for season two of Supergirl, Entertainment Weekly reported.
According to the show’s executive producer, Sarah Schechter, the heroes have different ways of approaching their battles and contrasting experiences with their powers, which could create friction between the pair.
“I think that Clark has a very different experience of what it means to have superpowers on Earth,” she said.
“He was raised with them, he has certain values so there’s some real head butting and philosophical approaches that are different and we’ll get into all that.”
Tyler Hoechlin, who is known for his role as Derek in Teen Wolf, was cast as the Man of Steel for Supergirl last month. Schechter said they decided to wait until the second season to introduce the iconic hero properly, in order to focus on Kara’s story during the first season.
However, she added that the “show is about family” and “it’s only natural that Kara reconnect with him”.
“This show is about family and it’s about the family that you make as an adult and this family that’s come together and then it’s also about the family you came from [and] we have Clark to represent the family,” she said.
“I think it’s only natural now that Kara reconnect with him.”
Aside from Superman, Kara can expect to meet a range of other heroes this season now that she’s on the CW.
Earlier this year, the network’s Chief Executive, Mark Pedowitz, confirmed a massive four-way crossover with Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow. Click here for more information.
