Looks like former frenemies Stefan and Klaus could be heading for a bit of a reunion.

According to the The Vampire Diaries and The Originals‘ creator, Julie Plec, the pair will reunite during two crossover episodes this year.

Speaking to Variety, she said CW has wanted to bring the hit vampire show and its spin-off together for some time, but couldn’t find an opportunity where it would naturally fit with the storyline… until now.

The End of The Affair

For those out of the loop, the premise of The Vampire Diaries season seven is Stefan on the run from a big bad evil (we’re guessing it’s Nora) with magical powers.

“So we’re sitting in the room, and the plot point is that Stefan is in trouble and he’s being pursued by means of magic so how can we get him safe? Well, let’s get him to a place where there’s no magic. And I was like, ‘Oh sh-t! St. James Infirmary,” she explained.

“There’s a place where there’s no magic that can work in New Orleans!’ And the whole writer’s room just went, “Yay! Finally!” because they’ve been waiting so long for that opportunity.”

The crossover will take place over two separate episodes – episode 14 of The Vampire Diaries and episode 14 of The Originals.

She said Stefan will go to New Orleans where he’ll seek shelter and the assistance of from his former rival, Klaus.

The last time the pair met was in season four of The Vampire Diaries when Stefan betrayed Klaus by teaming up with his siblings to find the cure to vampirism.

The second half of The Vampire Diaries season seven will begin airing in Australia from March this year on FOX8.

Do you think Klaus will welcome Stefan with open arms?
