This could mean old faves may not be part of the new show.
The new Star Trek series may not pick up where some of the old faves left off.
Last week, CBS and Paramount confirmed they were bringing the popular franchise back to the small screen following the success of the 2009 cinematic reboot.
With the new series scheduled to premiere in January 2017, it’s too soon for creators to discuss potential characters, storylines or links to the third movie (2016) and the rumoured fourth installment.
However, Michael Dorn aka Captain Worf from Star Trek: The Next Generation has spoken out and says it’s likely that the show will follow the new timeline created in the J.J. Abrams films, Trek News reported.
For those struggling to recall – the 2009 flick created an alternative Star Trek timeline after Nero and the original Spock travelled back in time.
“I can confirm it right now. CBS/Paramount is coming out with a television series in 2017 and from what I’ve read, it’s going to be the J.J. Abrams-universe.”
“So, it’s going to be a different timeline and we are not in it.”
If the new Star Trek series does follow the alternate timeline, then this could mean other characters would need to be recast with younger actors.
Would you prefer the series follow traditional timelines or the new one?
