It only took nine incredible seasons of outer space action for BBC to capitalise on the success of Doctor Who with a series spin-off.

Coming in 2016 is Class – eight 45 minute episodes of a new series that will be the earth-based derivative of the cult show.

A brain child of YA Series Books author, Patrick Ness, BBC says Class will set itself apart from the Doctor Who series by bringing the intergalactic ‘action, heart and adrenalin’ to one location, contemporary London.

“This is growing up in modern Britain – but with monsters,” Doctor Who show runner, Steven Moffat explained.

Ness said he can’t wait for old and new fans to meet the heroes of Class as well as its new villains and aliens.

Filming for the series will commence in Wales next year and will air on BBC shortly after.

Meanwhile, earlier this week, rumours leaked that Slipknot frontman, Corey Taylor would be lending his voice to Doctor Who as Fisher King. Click here for more.
