The sequel to the Fantastic Four reboot is likely to happen and could be out by 2017.
Writer and producer, Simon Kinberg, said he still has hope for the project and is currently trying to figure out what direction the movie will take.
“We’re figuring out what the movie would be,” he said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
“I’d like that to happen.”
He continued, explaining that he’s ‘really focused’ on making the sequel happen and would like to see the same cast return to their roles.
With renewed focus on the second movie, Kinberg said while he was ‘disappointed’ by the reboot’s icy box office reception, he hasn’t had a chance to do a ‘full deep dive’ into what went wrong.
“Do I think it was unfairly treated? I don’t know,” he said.
Meanwhile, earlier this month, former Marvel boss Stan Lee joked that the movie failed to live up to MCU’s success because he didn’t make his traditional cameo.
Speaking to Larry King, he laughed that the producers bucked tradition by not featuring him or getting ‘quality assurance’ by discussing the story with the Marvel guru.
If Kinberg gets his Fantastic Four sequel it’s likely to be released by 9 June 2017.
