‘Stargate Atlantis’ and now a movie about the Atlantian-born hero, Aquaman – Momoa seems to have a thing for that lost city of Atlantis myth.
Chatting about his debut as the Sea King in next year’s Batman v Superman, Momoa has a message for the public – his Aquaman is no joke.
Over the years, the DC comic hero has been the butt of a number of jokes because well… how tough and intimidating could an Aquaman really be? About as tough as an Ant-Man, right?
Well according to Momoa, his portrayal of the ocean-based hero will likely leave jokesters a little low on material because he’s bringing all new levels of bad-ass to the character, Entertainment Weekly reported.
“It’s cute and funny. People make fun of him,” he said.
“There’s a bunch of jokes about him, but I’m like, ‘Just wait. Let’s just wait a little bit, and then you can make jokes.’”
The actor continued, explaining that they’re reinventing the hero and the ‘whole idea of what Aquaman should be’.
In addition to his debut in Superman v Batman, Aquaman will star in his own movie scheduled for release in 2018.
We have no doubt Momoa’a portrayal of the underwater king will be somewhat dark and borderline scary because well… did you see him as Khal Drago in GoT? Enough said.
