Everyone’s favourite mutant mentor Professor X will not only appear in the final Wolverine movie, but play a major part.
Patrick Stewart alluded that he might reprise his role as Charles Xavier earlier this year, but has now confirmed the rumours, saying he’ll be joining Hugh Jackman for the final flick.
Speaking to Collider, Stewart said Xavier will make ‘more than an appearance’ and moviegoers will get a taste of a ‘very different’ side of the character.
“I think what you say is true. There is a project in development,” he said.
“I understand that Professor Xavier will be making more than an appearance, however, and that intrigues me.”
The story-line for the untitled Wolverine 3 movie still remains a mystery, however, Hugh Jackman teased earlier this year that it may draw inspiration from the ‘Old Man Logan’ miniseries and viewers may actually see the fast-healing character age.
Wolverine 3 is scheduled for release in 2017, following next year’s release of X-Men: Apocalypse which will also see the return to Professor X as well as his friend and rival Magneto.
