It was only three days ago that Universal confirmed it had taken the opening weekend crown away from Marvel, with Jurassic World surpassing former record holder ‘The Avengers’.
Original estimates placed the Jurassic Park sequel slightly behind the superhero movie, with US$204.6 million.
However, according to final figures the latest flick in the dinosaur franchise earned some $208.8 million during the opening weekend – 1.4 million ahead of Joss Whedon’s blockbuster.
Unsurprisingly since the announcement Universal and its actor have celebrated the feat.
Now Marvel has responded.
Marvel Studio’s president posted a congratulatory photo on Twitter.
In the pic, Chris Pratt is seen riding a T-Rex while The Avengers (Black Widow, Captain America, Hawkeye, Hulk, Iron Man and Thor watch on.
Accompanying the picture was the caption: “Marvel Studios congratulates Jurassic World on being the new opening weekend king!”
Awwww isn’t the sweet!
But let’s be real for a second, Jurassic World’s success is in a way Marvel’s success because lead actor Chris Pratt also stars in Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, which has a sequel coming out in 2017.
Have you watched Jurassic World yet?
